Clare Ettinger, Richmond, Virgina
Clare Ettinger was kicked out of her high school dance after a male chaperon complained about her dress. Although it passed the schools finger length rule the chaperon felt it was too provocative and can give the boys "impure thoughts."
Clare spoke out about the situation on her sister's blog:
"The whole situation made me feel violated, walked over and ostracized"
"I'm not responsible for some perverted 45 year old dad lusting after me because I have a sparkly dress on and a big ass for a teenager. And if you think I am, then maybe you're part of the problem"

Shafer Rupard, Cherryville High School, North Carolina
Shafer Rupard was kicked out of her senior prom, not because her outfit was revealing, but because she was wearing pants. The school had no official dress code for the prom. Rupard was punished for wearing an outfit that supports gender nonconformity.

Josephina Thompson, Huntsville, Alabama
Josephina Thompson was stopped by a female security officer on her way to her first class. She was taken to In-House Learning Center (ICL), preventing her from attending classes, because she was wearing ankle length leggings. Dress code states that leggings are allowed if they are covered by shorts, skirts, or dresses that are no higher that three inches above the bend of the knee. Thompson's outfit satisfied the requirements. If no one was available to provide new clothing for her she would have had to sit in the ILC, preventing her education.

Stephanie Hughes, Woodford County High School, Kentucky
Stephanie Hughes was sent to the principal's office for wearing a shirt that revealed her collarbone, a violation at Woodford. When her mom questioned the rule the district replied "revealed collarbones may distract their male class mates."

Stephanie's mom then had to leave her job to bring her daughter a scarf, assuming this would be efficient enough. By surprise, her daughter was then sent home from school for giving her principal an attitude when he confronted Stephanie because her scarf "was still inappropriate and she needed to fix it."
